This tea was wonderful just I did cutting the sugar to a piddling over 1 cup. The merely trouble I had was when I poured the boiling h2o into the drinking glass bullpen it cracked. Thinking it was an old pitcher I bought a new one and the same thing happen once again. So I at present disolve the sugar in the pan of hot tea and when that cools I cascade it into a glass pitcher. Annotation: I just use a stainless steel pan to brand my tea.
I'thousand a southern girl through and through and I loved this tea! My husband thought it was likewise sweet for him though. Thanks.
Would exist v stars if the recipe toned down the sugar a bit. I used i-1/2 cups and even retrieve I can become away with making it with 1-1/4 cups. 2 cups to me would be way as well sweet. I didn't accept family size tea numberless and used iv regular size. UPDATE- My Bf is in love with this tea he said its the best.
Anyone in the Souoth knows that sweet tea is the Just tea! However 2 cups of sugar for 1/ii gallon of tea is TOO much.(You don't desire syrup) Cut the sugar by half, at least and you volition have good tea.
This was then proficient! I simply made a 2-quart bullpen, so I used 2 tea bags and 1 loving cup of sugar and information technology was perfect! Cheers!
My daughter and I dear this tea. Make no mistake, this tea is heavy on the sweet! I've cutting the sugar down to i 1/two cups and *however* get a very sweet, tasty tea. Don't worry if y'all don't accept orange-pekoe tea on hand - I've made this using 7 regular sized Liptons Natural Tea and the results were very still very good.
Give thanks GOODNESS for this recipe! My married man and I moved from Tennessee to Illinois three years ago and can't get a glass of sweet tea ANYWHERE up here! If nosotros take a sip of this sweet tea and close our eyes, we could almost believe we were dorsum in Knoxville! I did cut back the sugar to 1 1/ii C, maybe because I've been living above the Mason-Dixon besides long :)
This makes accurate, southern iced tea...so authentic I had to cut the carbohydrate down to one cup. For the best results, use Luzianne make tea bags and add a wedge of lemon.
This was a God sent .....We lived in ,Wiconsin. A person tin can't find a cracking glass of tea anywhere. This recipe was an everyday thing!...No wonder why Wisconsonites drinkable and so much beer. We're dorsum in the Southward and we'll continue this recipe !
i wanted to drib a helpful hint in regards to the reviewer that cracked two pitchers with hot tea.i do not remember who told me this i just remember after neat my first tea pitcher so many years ago, someone told me to put a butter knife into the pitcher before pouring in the hot tea. the metallic attracts the heat and keeps it from slap-up the glass.and i have not cracked ane since. hope this helps yall too.
VERY Skillful!!!! I am from the mountains of Northward Carolina and we LOVE sugariness tea hither! This is the all-time sweetness tea that I take ever had! Thanks And then MUCH for this recipe! I volition be making this again and once more!:)
This how I've been making my swet tea for years. iii-ii-i. 3 family size tea bags, 2c sugar, 1 quart water. I bring the h2o but to a boil plough off the oestrus and add together tea bags. After removing I deliquesce the sugar in the hot tea and pour the ane quart of liquid into a 1/two gallon or gallon container filled with water ice. Those who say its too sweet; you serve iced tea over a glasss full of ice then it dilutes it quite a fleck. If yous cut the saccharide as well much in the beginning it will be very diluted by the time it gets to the glass
I give it a five because at that place just isn't whatever substitute for skilful, ol' Southern sugariness tea! As with other reviewers, I too don't like mine quite this sweet, and a skillful bit stronger, and then I apply eight regular sized Lipton tea bags and 1 cup sugar, to make 1 gallon of tea. If I accept folks coming over that don't do saccharide, I volition make information technology without, but have a container of simple syrup made and ready (2 cups sugar dissolved in 1 cup hot/humid water) and then that each person who wants tin then sweeten to their individual tastes.
Excellent tea with less carbohydrate. Easier to steep the tea in a tea pot with a lid. Fewer tea bags are needed with this method. Steeping with a lid on makes a stronger tea. The best way to prevent a drinking glass bullpen from breaking when adding the boiling water, is to put a metal pocketknife or other metal utensil in the pitcher first. My female parent ever did this and the pitcher will non intermission. Or, you lot could apply a pyrex pitcher.
This is some awesome sweetness tea! But yous annotate tour not finding something this "Adept" north of the mason dixion is a joke! i am a proud Iowa girl & my sweet tea is improve than this!! :)
I'm from the South and this is a skillful recipe. However, I would recommend cut back on the carbohydrate. I utilize i and ane/2 cups at the very almost. If you get cloudy tea, try letting the steeped tea cool for well-nigh 30 minutes before stirring information technology into the sugar.
Note: this recipe is for a gallon non a i/2 gallon...married to an Alabama boy and this ratio is right for Alabama Sweet Tea. (2c to the gallon). Interestingly, this is the same ratio for Kool-Help and McDonalds Sweetness Tea. Another thing is the importance of mixing the carbohydrate in with the HOT tea so spooky.
Just like my Maw-maw's sweet tea! Utilize Luzianne tea bags for the best sweet tea ever!
Oh my...I'm from Mississippi and I even think this is mode too much carbohydrate. It tastes dandy with one cup! Other than that, its a smashing recipe!
I made this for a friend's nuptials and her new in-laws were from Tennesse. They were all impressed and said information technology tasted very authentic.
I cut the sugar to 1 and 1/4 loving cup and added it to the tea in the pot, and so added 2 caps of lemon juice. I let it come up to room temp, then poured the mixture over lemon slices and chilled in the fridge for 1 hr. I served at a party and anybody loved it!
Someone said information technology was as well much saccharide for 1/ii gallon of tea. It isn't supposed to be but 1/2 gal when finished. Yous are supposed to brand the tea with 1/2 gallon water and THEN once the tea is done, fill information technology up the residuum of the way---to one gallon--- with water.
great tea! I make this every week and take a couple of bottles to wok with me. I did however cutting down on the sugar to one-1/iv cups
This tea is great but I tweaked it a petty, I took the 2 cups of saccharide put it in a sauce pan and added 2 cups of water to it. And so brought it to a boil, stir until the sugar dissolves, let it cool and you take simple syrup. I store mine in a quart jar, it doesn't accept to be refrigerated. Make the crawly tea as directed, chill and when you lot are ready to serve permit everyone add together their ain simple syrup to their liking with some lemon. You don't take to worry about the sugar being likewise sweet or not enough. I make lemonade by the glass and employ the ss, it works very well. A northern daughter born and bred who now lives in Tennessee and loves it. Information technology's a 5 star.
I love iced tea. I made the recipe as directed and no ane could drink it due to sweetness. Next time, I used 1 cup of sugar, viii regular sized tea bads, and a gallon of water and thought it was notwithstanding alittle sweeter than information technology should be. I think I will cut it to 3/iv of sugar to a gallon.
For those of yous giving lesser ratings because of the sweet, did you miss the part where it said "Southern" sugariness tea? Every bit a Southern girl, built-in and raised, I EXPECT it to me almost unbearably sweetness. This tea was perfect. Cheers, poster.
My husband is very appreciative of this recipe. He is from Georgia and loves his sweet tea. I, on the other hand, put almost no sugar in my iced tea... So he asked me to brand this for him. I did a half-batch as I don't have a huge pitcher, and I used three/4 cup sugar instead of a cup. At first he said it wasn't sweet enough, but after it saturday in the fridge for an hour or two, he said it was much better. I tried it... and nearly went into sugar-shock. And I beloved my sweets! Well, he tin bask it, and I'll savor my hot tea. :) Thank you for sharing, LoveCats2001!
I have been searching for a sweet tea recipe. This one is wonderful...we got hooked on sugariness tea living in TN. At present in TX can only find it at Chick fil a. This recipe tastes sooo very skilful! I easily found the pekoe tea at Kroger. thanks for a good memory!
This is Alabama diabetic coma tea... the best anyone can have... no where in the world can bear upon the sugariness tea makin from Bama... proficient recipe... not for the faint of heart!
I am a student at bennett and I have to practise a how to paper significant I have to exercise a paper saying how to make something. And I accept to make it! So thankyou so much for having this recipe!
this is a good recipe, however, you forgot the LEMON! add the juice of about half dozen good lemons and that'southward volition make it better. also, i don't put ice in the bullpen - it dilutes it likewise much. if y'all pour the hot tea into a glass full of ice cubes, information technology's not too sugariness - it'due south Merely right. add a sprig of mint, and y'all're really cooking with hot grease!
I did not add together 2 cups of sugar. I added about 1 1/2. It was splendid!!
being from the south myself, a lot of people don't know that TRUE southern sweetness tea, is just that, sugariness...and that's merely style information technology should be....this recipe is absolutely perfect!
Beloved information technology...best of all anybody always compliments me on this on. Great tastin' Southern Ice Tea at it's best.
Perhaps it's because I'thou Canadian, just I'd never heard of sweetness tea. I'd been looking for an iced tea recipe and came beyond the splendid ratings on this i. I put a sprig of mint in with Ginger Greenish tea and some lemon slices and this was a hit! I've never heard of family unit sized tea bags and then I'll add more bags next time and maybe use splenda because I could potable the whole pitcher to myself :)
I am from Texas and you tin can get the same excellent results by humid 3 cups of h2o in the microwave with 4 (Luzianne is the all-time tea) family size tea bags. Allow steep for a few minutes, longer if you like your tea strong. Put 1 - 1 1/2 cups of sugar per gallon of tea in a bullpen (More than if you like it really sweetness). Remove and clasp tea bags. Pour hot tea over sugar and stir until dissolved. Add h2o to fill pitcher. I add together cold water from my refrigerator, not from the tap, as it will brand it too frothy. Anybody LOVES this tea.
I use Splenda instead of sugar and also cut information technology to 1 cup. I also use decaf tea. This is great for the grandkids who recall they are special to have "Sweet Tea"
My boyfriend is a NC native and loves his sweet tea. The only change I made was I added less common cold water to the final step, nigh one.5 cups instead of 3. I only go almost three qts of sweet tea total. As soon equally I am finished making information technology I put information technology immediately in the fridge. This is likewise very adept with lemonade to make crawly Arnold Palmer's! The niece and nephews love those.
I grew up in Texas and now that I live in New Mexico realize how difficult it is to go a great cup of sweet tea. This recipe took me back to many a hot day spent sipping on merely such a cup. Very refreshing and like shooting fish in a barrel
I live in Colorado, and have loved sugariness tea ever since my friend from Tennessee made me endeavor some of hers. She moved dorsum recently and I have been craving some existent southern way sweet tea, and this was exactly what I take been looking for! give thanks you!
Admittedly succulent, teeth-hurting, tastes-like-home, sugariness-tea. Just like my great-grandmother fabricated it. I've cut down on the sugar these days and have even adulterated the holy brew with splenda, merely this is the real thing anoint your heart!
Having been born and raised in Alabama I take always considered my mother's sweet tea to exist the best in the world. But she does non re-boil her tea, after steeping, and only uses one loving cup of sugar per one-half gallon. And her tea is plenty sweet...in more ways than ane! She likewise says that chilling the tea, earlier it has cooled to room temperature, will go far cloudy. And then, I would not want to add together the ice to the pitcher. Give it a petty while to cool, then pour over ice. Perfect!
Ok, I don't know what Alabama the reviewer Samantha is from, simply I'm also an Alabama girl and this truly is how sweet tea is supposed to taste! Adept job on coming up with a recipe. We never had to use one *smile*
I used 1/two cup of Splenda (I haven not used sugar for years) and added lemon juice, almost four lemons. My cousin warned me never to order iced tea if I travel south because they serve it unsweetened and without lemon. Weird. I've never met anyone that drinks it without sugar and lemon. ;-)
I fabricated this recipe with using only i 1/4 cups of sugar and it didn't terminal long. Everyone couldn't stop drinking it.
Very adept tea. Equally for all the complaints about as well much sugar, I think that'due south more than just a matter of gustation. I was practically raised on VERY sugariness tea, and this was just right.
Exactly what I was looking for in a sweet tea.
This tea is awesome! I made it with the 2-cups but found it to exist likewise sweet for me. Only, if y'all similar the Bojangle's super-sweet tea --- this is your recipe! After using just one-1/2 cups of sugar, it turned out crawly for us. My mom made the best sweet tea in the globe. She'due south gone now and this recipe tastes simply like hers. Thanks for sharing.
I like this recipe but I had to make a couple of changes for my crew. I run 10 cups of water through the coffee maker drop the tea bags in, shut the coffee maker off and let the tea mash for about an hour and a half. Nosotros like the stronger tea flavor. I likewise cut the sugar down to one and a half cups. Other than that I follow the rest of the directions.
I am southern also and used to make my tea with 2 cups, but I have reduced my saccharide to one loving cup and make a full gal. with 5 regular or 3 family size tea numberless. I always get compliments on my tea. I sometimes drink information technology with no saccharide. It is only your selection on the sweetness.
Personally i like Luzianne(maybe because that is what my Grandmother uses in Mississippi) but i like to add an orange slice, information technology gives it a little different flavour to mix things upwards from time to time.
Peachy recipe! I followed other reviewer's communication and reduced the saccharide to 1 1/2 cups--I might reduce it a picayune more next time. I love the sweet tea at Cracker Butt, and this tastes very shut. Thank you!
Love super sweet tea so I did use the corporeality of sugar called for..yum!
its a good tea but that isnt Alabama tea. Im a southern girl from Alabama and I can tell you we've never had tea like that.
but like mine but, with i more than cup of sugar. My husband loves this stuff!!!(try adding some ginger ale to it)
Very good and I'd rate 5 stars except it was a titch besides sweet. I changed the carbohydrate to one-1/2 cups and information technology was perfect! Thank you!
I love sweet tea, but this recipe is just a little too sweet. Tone downwardly on the saccharide about a i/4Cup-ane/3Cup and information technology's perfecto!
This is and then simple and and then refreshing. I used Splenda instead of saccharide and had wonderful results! This is definately a keeper.
scaled it down a bit... very delicious!
All my family loved this tea!!!!!! certain i will be making this again!!! added a fiddling less sugar though. Thanx for the recipe
I notice this tea to sweet I used one cup saccharide and it turned out simply the right sweetness and I used a tea made for iced tea that does not cloud up a mean solar day after it was made. I make mine with a Mr. Java water ice tea maker and put the sugar in the pitcher that the tea is making in then stir, add to another picture show and add water.
The whole family loved information technology! Didn't think it was also sweet. Just skipped boiling the 2nd time to avoid cracking the glass, after reading other reviews, and information technology turned out great! Will definately make over again and again!
This is the but mode I tin can make tea now. I Dearest it!
I employ i ane/2 cups carbohydrate to 2 gallons of tea and it is plenty sweet.
Sweet Tea the manner it was meant to exist! I noticed some of the other reviewers mentioned that they had problem when pouring the hot tea into a glass pitcher. To avert this, at that place are a few dissimilar things i tin endeavour. My Mom and Grandma both utilize ceramic pitchers that they bought in the NC mountains...the glazed clay pitchers don't pause as easily as their glass counterparts, and tin can be ordered online these days (though a trip to the mountains to go pottery shopping is e'er fun!) Or, if you adopt, you lot tin can add the sugar during the boiling procedure, and and so SLOWLY pour the tea over a pitcher total of ice, thus cooling it as it goes in, and eliminate the need for the extra h2o! Such a fantastic recipe! Thank you!
I tried it with apple tree cinnamon spice tea (its all i had on hand) and it even so came out amazing!! deceit expect to endeavor information technology with orangish pekoe adjacent time, thank you for the recipe!!
THIS IS Simply THE Best SWEET TEA THIS SIDE OF THE SOUTH!! I MAKE THIS FOR ALL MY FAMILY GET-TO-GETHERS WE ALL Honey It!VERY SIMPLE TO Make. Thanks
THANK Yous Thanks Thank You i have been searching and searching for a sweet tea recipe. This one is Swell. I practise agree with some of the others, you might need to experment with the amount of carbohydrate. For me probabley 1/2. I got adicted to Red Diamond, and this is every bit equally expert, and its avalible anytime.
add a pinch of baking soda to make the tea extra smooth! it really works!
This tea is awesome. My v yr old always adds and so much sugar so I tried this out and I am so glad I did. I only added one 1/4 cup of carbohydrate and I used iii family unit size tea bags of regular tea. I so threw in 3 bags of raspberry zinger angelic seasonings and the hint of raspberry is awesome. Side by side fourth dimension I will try it with the orange tangerine and the balck carmine flavors. But, even without the flavorings I know that this is a bomb tea.
THIS TEA IS WONDERFUL...MY SON LIKES It SUPER SWEET BUT FOR ME I Cutting THE SUGAR TO ane one/ii CUPS.. I ADDED A SPRIG OF FRESH MINT FROM THE GARDEN AND IT WAS WONDERFUL. ENJOY..... NORTHERNERS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MISSING!!!!
If this is what sweet tea tastes like, I'm glad I live in Washington state! This is molar curling sweet. If you cut the saccharide, and so it actually tin can't exist called sweet tea, but that'southward what needs to be done to brand this drinkable.
Every bit a "southern girl" I love some sweet tea! I gave this a 4 star because it's a little heavy on the carbohydrate. I use about a cup and a quarter of sugar instead and I use lemon and orange slices too, Yum-yum! I am so glad that the residuum of the land is at present enjoying what we "southerners" have always known is a delight......sweet refreshing tea!
Sweet tea is similar water to me; a must accept to alive. We have a patch of mint that grows in my yard and I love to throw a cutting in the pitcher. Yum!
This is definitely SWEET tea! I am from Boston, but went to higher in the Southward and became addicted to sweet tea while I was studying for exams. I volition cutting the carbohydrate in half next fourth dimension. If you like extra super sweet tea though, this recipe is for y'all!
WAY also much sugar. Needs to be toned down in a big way.
this is the way sweet tea should taste I tried the other sweet tea recipe on this site and this one is much improve, although I halved the recipe and nevertheless used 3 tea bags
Personally, I'thousand not a fan of Iced Tea. But final summer I told some friends who was relocating from some other metropolis that I would have care of luncheon for their moving crew. I knew that several in the group liked tea, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've made it several times since. I've e'er used the non-flavored tea bags, then I slice a lemon and put the lemon slices in the tea to add a footling flavor. My Dad is Diabetic and loves Iced Tea - so for our Begetter's Solar day cookout concluding twelvemonth I substituted the Sugar with Splenda, so that he could enjoy a glass of Sweet Tea - and information technology again turned out swell. (co-ordinate to him) I won't use whatever other recipe or canned mix again.
Experiment with the amount of saccharide. Nosotros were able to cut the saccharide in one-half and information technology was still sweet enough for our taste.
This is a bang-up recipe honest-to-goodness Southern recipe, simply as everyone else said - it's way as well much sugar. With one-half the amount of sugar it yet tastes wonderful. I like to utilise raw cane sugar (turbinado) instead of white sugar; it tastes better and isn't processed as much. If y'all add lime instead of lemon it tastes almost exactly like "Arizona Iced Tea."
I went alee and put the sugar in the water and permit information technology boil. Perfect summertime beverage.
super sugariness and really good
I personally detect this to be toothache inducing sugariness. Non then adept at all. But, I need to dispute the fact you can't get this upward north. I'thousand from PA and my family makes this ALL the time. I myself do not like it, but information technology'south been a staple at my family reunions since I was a little girl. To make this fifty-fifty remotely appetizing, you lot need to at **least** half the sugar.
I followed the advice of others, and reduced the sugar to 1 1/2c. Information technology was even so VERY sweet, but the tea season was the perfect forcefulness. Next fourth dimension I will go with 1 1/4c sugar.
I halved the recipe and made it with black currant tea (all I had on hand) and it turned out really well. 5. simple to follow directions.
I don't like sweet tea so I gave this recipe to my son, he loves it and at present makes it all the time. Merely the right amount of saccharide.
I had never tried this type of tea before this recipe. I dearest it! Great for hot summer days!
I'm a North Carolinian myself, and boy practise I Dearest my sugariness tea! This person definitely suceeded in making sugariness tea seem more complicated than it actually is! I throw ii Lipton family-sized tea packets in water, let it boil for well-nigh five minutes or then, so pour it in a pitcher. I only add 1.5 cups (true sugariness tea is probably around 2 cups) to the pitcher and stir, adding some cold water. When you fill it up, throw it in the fridge and you're done! My bf is from Southward Dakota and he tin can't get enough of sweet tea!
the best iced tea around, super easy to make, and a huge hitting at BBQ'S I dont add together the ice or second corporeality of h2o, simply continue the concentrate and mix to taste(55%/45%h2o).
This is peachy, just like Nanny used to make deep in the eye of Texas. I just demand to play with the sugar level a bit.
Absolutely perfect! Being in New Zealand I've had such a hankering for sweetness tea and this definitely eased my homesickness! I definitely program to make it when I go dorsum home to Due north Carolina!
Yummy! Used 5 regular sized bags of Lipton, and filled picher with ice instead of water. Added some lime juice likewise. Turned out perfect!
Exactly what I was looking for. I did take the advice of others and reduced the carbohydrate to 1 i/2 cups.
This was very good. I followed the other reviews and put in ane ane/2 cups of saccharide. It was sweet just nosotros liked it.
